Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Gagosian Gallery, London, this 170-page catalogue illustrates work by thirty-five artists, from 1947 through today. An essay by Malcolm Bull investigates "the death of painting" and examines the contradictions implicit in that concept by tracing it as a pervasive theme throughout contemporary art. The catalogue includes a postscript by Mark Francis, the curator of the show and director at Gagosian Gallery. Seventy-three artworks included in the exhibition are illustrated in full color alongside historical works reproduced in black and white on a grey uncoated paper.
