From Caspar David Friedrich to Gerhard Richter, German Paintings from Dresden is the catalogue published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibitions at The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles in 2006.
The publication illuminates the history of the Galerie Neue Meister (The New Masters Gallery), and a selection from this collection is juxtaposed with works from the Getty Museum. Caspar David Friedrich and Gerhard Richter are singled out as major focus points. Gerhard Richter's early years in Dresden and the series of paintings entitled Forest are analysed in two separate essays.
Contributions by Ulrich Bischoff, Elisabeth Hipp and Jeanne Anne Nugent and an interview with Gerhard Richter.
