As has happened time and time again the medium of painting has been declared dead. In the Power of Painting shows how six influential post-war artists – Andy Warhol, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly, Brice Marden, and Ross Bleckner – have proved this assumption wrong and reinserts the belief in contemporary painting and its ability to be current.
The six groups of works from the Daros collection impressively exemplify how these painters appropriated new media in order to install their own rules of painting.
