Mark Godfrey examines the parallels that can be drawn between Richter's abstract works and appearances in nature. Richter's perception of nature is hereby linked to historical aspects.
Mark Godfrey is a curator at Tate Modern and co-curated the exhibition Gerhard Richter: Panorama with Nicholas Serota. In 2007 he published the book Abstraction and the Holocaust with Yale University Press.
